Hoshinoya is situated in a secluded spot up the river surrounded by trees - really the most beautiful setting imaginable! From your arrival at the waiting room near the bridge to travelling up the river by boat and being waved goodbye when you leave, you are treated like royalty. The rooms are huge - more of a flat with a separate bathroom, toilet, dining room and bedroom. Breakfast is served in the room. We had the lighter dinner options which was also served in our room and was very reasonable priced. Our only regret is that we did some sightseeing in Arashyiama (not to be missed though!) which meant that we did not spent enough time at the resort and did not utilise all the resort had to offer. One should use your time there to absorb nature and recharge in the tranquil setting. Pricey, but oh so worth it!
