The Holiday Inn Express Springfield includes amenities such as an indoor heated swimming pool, a complimentary fitness center, onsite guest laundry facilities, a business center, complimentary wireless internet access throughout the hotel, and a complimentary full breakfast buffet. The indoor heated swimming pool is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., and the complimentary fitness center is open daily from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. A nearby restaurant that we recommend is Rosewood Restaurant. Rooms feature irons and ironing boards, sleeper sofas, hair dryers, mini-fridges, microwaves, coffee and tea makers, and flat screen televisions. Cribs and rollaway beds are available upon request, as well. Connecting rooms are also available upon request. Pets are allowed at this hotel for a $40 nonrefundable fee. Nearby attractions include the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, Henson Robinson Zoo, Illinois State Fairgrounds, Knights Action Water Park, and the Rail Golf Course. Check-in time is 3 p.m. and check-out time is 11 a.m.

Located right next door to crown plaza in large easy to find avenue with lots of restaurants and other hotels. Gracious greeter, spacious room with all the amenities.
My only gripe is that there was a pervasive mildew smell in the bathroom. Curtain looked clean but I just can’t get it out of my nose. Lol

While they claim to have an indoor pool, it's actually next door at the Crown Plaza. It can only be reached via outdoors- not conducive in the cold weather! It seems disingenuous, if not outright false advertising.
Also experienced a first with a key card, the door mechanisms battery had to be replaced. This was not handled well. It took15 minutes for maintenance to arrive since the manager's key did not work. Then maintenance tried to persuade us to wait until morning- meaning we would be unable to leave the room. Finally, after it was replaced we had to go to the desk for news keys- after already making two previous trips to the front desk about the keys. Frustrating and not good customer service.
