This reliable hotel on the western edge of Lubbock is always a clean and comfortable place for families. Several of their suites include two queen beds and a full sleeper sofa. Every suite also contains a small kitchenette with microwave, sink, coffee maker, and mini-fridge, although a few come with a full-size refrigerator if you need it. Kids will love the indoor pool and hot tub after a day of travel. Other amenities include free wi-fi, a 24-hour fitness center, coin laundry, and the delicious free breakfast that Holiday Inn Express is famous for.
The hotel is located 4 miles from the campus of Texas Tech University, right off the freeway, with easy access to almost every area of Lubbock. You’ll find plenty of stores and restaurants around your hotel, but nothing within walking distance. Downtown Lubbock is only ten minutes away, where you can begin your day learning about one of the early pioneers of rock and roll at the popular Buddy Holly Center. Don’t forget to pose for a photo with the lifesize Buddy Holly statue across the street before heading to the nearby National Ranching Heritage Center to see historic buildings of the old west. At the end of the day, kids will love cooling off at the Water Rampage water park, just a few miles from your hotel. There’s plenty more to see and do in Lubbock, and the Holiday Inn Express makes a great choice for your family vacation.

I could not be happier with the kind gentleman Timothy that works behind the counter. I felt immediately to be in the place I needed to be for this trip when I noticed the toy soldiers they had for customers to take as a reminder to pray for our soldiers fighting for our freedom. Being a military Mom this really was touching to me. Holiday Inn Express & Suites were clean. The rooms had everything we needed including a microwave and refrigerator. The breakfast is much better than your average breakfast express you often see. This visit to Lubbock came with a broken heart, as we came to say goodbye to a long time friend who was losing her battle with cancer. Decon Tim saw the strain on our faces and offered to pray with us! He was so kind and comforting and filled with natural compassion. I can’t say enough about the helpfulness and I hope management appreciates this gem of an employee they have. Thank you Decon Timothy! The young lady behind the counter was also helpful.

This hotel is in need of a major update, including furniture, paint and lighting. I will say that I asked for an early check in and was accommodated which was nice, however, when I got to my room, the light switch that controlled the tub light and fan was broken. I waited for maintenance to come up to fix, but after it was going to take a few minutes, the front desk was kind enough to give me another room. In this room, the fan in the bathroom was broken- eye roll here- the paint by the chair in the room was scraped off, the bathtub was old and had stains and the air conditioner was not working as it should. The comforter seemed to have too many snags for my liking. This hotel is not comparable to other HIE I have stayed in and as an IHG member, this was ridiculous!!! I really do not see how the reviews on this hotel has been this good. I should have asked for one of their rooms. 309 and 311, not so much. I will say the front desk clerk was very nice though. I kept seeing signs around the hotel that said did we rate a 10? a 9? or did we fail at 1-8.....It was a total fail.
