Given its close proximity to the Santa Fe Trail, Capulin Volcano and Sugarite State Park, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Raton is perfectly situated for families coming to explore the area’s outdoor attractions. The smoke-free hotel has 80 guestrooms, including 34 suites, on two floors. Accommodations feature king or queen beds, a flat-screen TV, free wired and Wi-Fi access, a microwave, a refrigerator, a coffee maker, an iron and ironing board, and a hairdryer. Suites also have a sleeper sofa. Rollaway beds and cribs are available, too. There’s even a kids’ suite that has one queen bed and one set of bunk beds in one bedroom, a king bed in the second room, a family dining table, and a Playstation3 (games and movies available). Families also will like the free continental breakfast served each morning, as well as the complimentary Manager’s Reception held each evening from 5 to 7 p.m. that includes salad, finger sandwiches and fresh-baked cookies. Complimentary coffee is always available in the lobby. The hotel also has an indoor heated swimming pool and whirlpool and a fitness center. Even the family pet can come along for a per day fee, for up to two dogs per room. Any dogs found in non-designated pet rooms will incur a deep-cleaning fee.

Beds better than the Westin Heavenly Bed.
Breakfast was similar to any express Hotel. Breakfast attendants were exemplary.
Early check-in was not available even though we arrived only 30 minutes prior to the 3 PM check-in time.

The holiday inn is an older hotel, but very well maintained. Rooms were clean, large, and quiet. My wife needs wheelchair accommodation, and the room they provided worked very well. The hotel staff was very friendly and responsive. This is a great value, and I plan to stay there again.
