This location was wheelchair friendly in that the whole resort is on a hill with the town center area located in a newer section that is geographically flat. However, if you are staying in the older section, they have two handicap (van) spots on either side of the residential building (four levels) that was adjacent to the pool area.
To enter the main building where you register, you will have to locate the ramp on the eastern side of the building. There was a sign out front directing you to the ramp for entry, which you can see when you pull into the driveway.
Overall, the walls and any connecting doors were very thin so you can hear conversations as well as people walking above you and next to you. The room we stayed in was an end unit so we only heard noise on one side and above us.
We stayed in a one-bedroom roll-in shower suite with some features that were accessible and others that were completely off the mark with regard to accessibility. The entry to the residential building was wheelchair accessible albeit the parking is not on a level grade; including the walkways. The door to the suite was accessible with locks and handles that were low and easy to reach. Once inside, the floors were wood laminate with low pile bedroom carpet and tile in the bathroom. The thermostats in the living room and bedroom are easy to reach. However, if you have visual issues, it is hard to determine on the screen between the heat and ac as the digital icons were very small.
As for the bathroom, there was a roll-in shower but it does have a small ramp to get up into it. It has a shower bench off the back wall with the shower controls right next to the bench. There were also separate controls for the overhead shower for your able body companion. We found that the water did exit the shower as there was no slope in the shower pan and there was no drain in the floor of the bathroom to capture it. (No mopping apparatus in the suite so towels had to be used).
The other entrance to the bathroom was from the bedroom, however, it becomes blocked if you put down the fold-down grab bar by the toilet. There was a grab bar on the wall behind the toilet. Between the fold-down grab bar and the toilet there was very little room between you and the wall next to the toilet.
The wash/dryer combo machine was also located in the bathroom.
The height of the queen bed in the bedroom was 27 inches, but the metal bed frame was not attached to the headboard so it could be removed to drop the bed down to a manageable height of 20 inches. If you have a Hoyer lift, the metal frame underneath does give you enough clearance provided it is not above 5 inches. The lamp switches on the night tables do not have extra plug outlets for your phone or tablet, but there are outlets next to the night tables but not within reach of the bed.
Some other encumbrances found in this suite:
1. To open and close the blind in the bedroom, there was a chain that you had to pull up and down.
2. The fan above the bed did not have a remote control to change the speed.
3. The phone to reach the Holiday Inn Club Staff was on a side table in the living room that was obstructed by an overstuffed chair.
4. The sink in the kitchen was roll-under but the cooking area was not.
5. The counter for the bar area was bar height and there was no other dining area in the suite.
6. The lowest shelf in the upper cabinets was not reachable from a wheelchair.
7. There was only one microwave oven and it was above the stove and not reachable from a wheelchair.
8. The resort was not wheelable unless you have some power to go up the hills. Further, you will need a vehicle as the area does not have any sidewalks to reach stores or restaurants nearby.

We did an exchange through our timeshare and were very pleased with our stay. The grounds are beautiful and there’s lots of parking available. It has a country setting, but conveniently located to lots of stores and tourist sites. Especially if you want to visit Yorktown, Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg or Busch’s Gardens.
The unit we stayed in was clean, up to date and comfortable. We even had a fireplace which was easy to turn on. Also included a lovely patio balcony off of our bedroom.
Almost all the kitchen supplies are included if you want to do your own cooking. I needed a couple of extra pitchers, which they promptly delivered. Plenty of towels and toiletries.
A nice jacuzzi was in the spacious bathroom.
My only criticism would be that the TVs were a bit small for the size of the rooms.
The staff was very accommodating and friendly. If you want a discount on any tickets, they will give you them if you don’t mind attending a 90 minute low pressure sales presentation. We got half off of Busch Gardens tickets.
I would definitely go back there.
