The Hilton Wilmington Christiana is located about 15 minutes south of Wilmington, and is a fabulous choice if you need an elegant night in the countryside. Set in the heart of Brandywine Valley, the Hilton is a deluxe stay for families, beginning with an evening the kids will love – a popular Royal Swan Feeding where a Swan master, in top hat and tie, feeds the four resident swans. Kids will also love the outdoor pool, which is medium size with lounge chairs, a hot tub and a pretty gazebo (open Memorial Day to Labor Day or sometimes later in September if the weather cooperates.) A beautiful new fire pit sits on the outdoor patio, where live music plays Wednesday through Friday and families are welcome.
The rooms and suites are beautifully decorated in milk chocolate hues, and offer the choice of double or king-sized beds. The 2 p.m. check-in and the 11:30 a.m. check-out isn’t bad either. Each guest room has a refrigerator, and many of the deluxe rooms come with a microwave, too. (If you find yourself in a room without a microwave and need one — just make your request and it’s yours at no charge.) Some hotel packages include a complimentary breakfast that includes an omelet station, fresh fruit, pancakes and more.
The Brasserie Grille serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and has an extensive children’s menu.
