Macon, Georgia long called “The Heart of Georgia” because the metropolitan area claimed the geographic center of the state sits about 85 miles south of Atlanta. Macon offers a lot to do including the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Macon Cherry Blossom Festival (every March), historical home tours, music history museums, and is starting to be called a college town. Don’t miss the beaches on Lake Tobesofkee.
The Hilton Garden Inn Macon/Mercer University is just a nine-minute walk – tops – to the Mercer University. The property offers 101 guestrooms with king beds or two queens. Upgrade to a king suite with a separate living area and a sofa sleeper. Rooms come with a microwave, a mini-fridge, a Keurig coffee system, a flat-screen TV, and free-Wi-Fi.
The onsite restaurant — The Garden Grille – serves breakfast and dinner. A 24/7 pantry has snacks and frozen food. The property has a large outdoor pool with a pretty patio, a fitness center and coin-operated laundry. The hotel is also a quick walk to Mercer Village (Barnes & Noble, Margarita’s Mexican Grill, Sauced Pizza, Jittery Joe’s Coffee and more.)

We were there for a Baptist Conference; the service was great. The manager and the waiter that waited on us in the restaurant was very professional yet personable. We will stay there again. We were placed on the same floor with our friends as requested which made the stay even better.

This charming HGI with the friendliest staff is like home to me, since I am often in the Macon area. With that said, this is the best hotel in the area, and I have stayed at all the other Hilton properties, as well as the Courtyard by Marriott.
