Stayed at the Capital Center Hilton based on a coworker recommendation and enjoyed my stay very much. Elegant building and front lobby. Rooms on the old side of the hotel are good sized and have character. The bathrooms are a bit odd shaped and small, but as an older property, this can be the case. Rooms that face the river allow an interesting view of river barge work and some stunning sunsets. The hotel bar is usually busy and lively. The daily breakfast spread is large and includes made to order items. Glad to return here again.

Stayed at this hotel for two days and I left to go to Holiday Inn Express around the corner with 5 more days to go. The hotel itself is nice when you walk in, but once you get to your room it’s downhill from there. I stayed on the 8th floor. The door feels like a bank vault door, you can barely get it open and it slams shut with a huge bang, but you have to push it in to close it completely. The room was so disgustingly filthy I was In utter shock. There’s atrocious yellow paint peeling everywhere, the carpets are filthy, I could not take my shoes off, the bathroom is sticky and disgusting, the white bathtub has dark brown and yellow rust all over it. The room looks like a dirty motel room, not a Hilton room that I’m used to. The night staff is atrocious, beyond rude and unwelcoming. I asked a simple question and was met with a negative attitude for no reason. The pool area was beautiful, that’s the only nice part of this hotel. I saw a one star review a few below mine stating the same thing with the GM replying that he has addressed all of the reviewers concerns. That was 3 weeks ago. My room was in the exact same deplorable condition as the previous reviewer. It’s safe to say the GM only leaves responses to save face, while maintaining complete complacency. The rooms need full renovation, period. And if you can’t do that, at least show some respect to your guests and make sure the place is clean. When I got to the Holiday Inn a was able to breath a sigh of relief. The room is spotless, the bathroom looks clean and great, the decoration of the room is clean and nice, and the paint color is not a cigarette smoke stain yellow that’s peeling all over. I can walk on the carpet without my shoes, and the door is easy to open and close. The staff is also incredibly welcoming and kind. I will stay here from now on when I come to town for business every month. It’s also cheaper which is a plus!
