Located near the Historic Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens and just one mile from Fort Belvoir, this Hampton Inn is about 20 minutes from Old Town Alexandria and 40 minutes from Washington D.C. After a day of exploring the town, families can head back to the hotel and spend some quality time at the indoor pool. A lifeguard is on duty during designated pool hours so the kids will be safe while they swim and splash, and the adults can relax. The spacious and comfortable guestrooms and suites feature a king, two queen beds, a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker and flat screen television. The large suites feature a sleeper sofa. Complimentary Wi-Fi access is available throughout the hotel so there is never a concern about staying connected to home, work or school. Cribs are available upon request. Families will love to start each morning with the free hot breakfast buffet that offers items like eggs, hot and cold cereal, fruit, muffins and more. A fitness center with cardio and weight machines is also available for those seeking to stay on top of workout routines while traveling.

Be aware that this is a large hotel in a very busy area, and after normal business hours, there is only one person working to cover the entire property which is very large. She is not allowed to leave the front desk. So, if you have an issue, there is no security or other staff support available. If you're traveling alone, it feels very unsafe. The hotel itself is nice, well maintained, and the breakfast is very good. However, they don't staff it properly so just hope you don't have an issue that needs any kind of resolution in a timely manner because it won't happen.

The rooms are a bit small and the hotel a bit pricey. It's not easy to walk anywhere, so you will need a car. We would have preferred a hotel where walking to shops and restaurants would be possible.
On the positive side, the hotel is just 3 miles from Mount Vernon, our main reason for the trip. The metro station to DC is about 6 miles away, but not easy to find without Google maps. The complementary breakfast was excellent.
