Nestled into the heart of Stowe, right on Main Street, is the 104-room Green Mountain Inn. The historic inn is divided into eight buildings and features a year-round, heated outdoor swimming pool, game room, fire pit and seasonal activities for families. The inn features classic hotel rooms, but families may prefer the property’s apartments or townhouses. Apartments are one- and two-bedroom suites that can accommodate up to six people, while two-story townhouses provide full kitchens, dining rooms and living rooms for four.

In a town where the cuteness quotient has clearly been cornered, the Green Mountain Inn fits inn perfectly. The quaint town of Stowe, which to one traveler is reminiscent of Whistler at its inception, is dominated by this facility, whose history is well preserved along the walls of its interior corridors. Quibblers will have difficulty finding a nit to pick: Some travelers will not like the fact the hotel’s main guest directory is available only through OCR text recognition/barcode. But that’s about it for faults on this stay, and as for nice added touches, there’s a Sound Machine in each unit which has the effect of lulling you to sleep with the birds or waves. A solid choice when for leaf peepers or at any time of year.

My wife and I decided to spend our 30th wedding anniversary in Stowe Vt. We enjoy staying in small towns and walking as much as we can to various sights. After much research We selected Green Mountain Inn which is on Main Street in Stowe. The person taking our reservation suggested the Mansfield House. Our room was a luxury king on the second floor. The room was beautifully decorated, clean, large and had all the amenities. All the staff at the Inn we accommodating, professional and friendly. The Inn is located within walking distance to many restaurants, shops and sites including a paved walking/bike trail. We had an enjoyable dinner at the Whip Bar & Grill. Great friendly atmosphere and great food. We ate there again on our last night.
We would highly recommend Green Mountain Inn for any visit to the Stowe area.
