This Gran Bahia resort is located an exclusive island in Samana. The island is only 1.5 kilometers in total — just enough space for the resort and stretches of white-sand beaches. Luxurious rooms, suites and villas are furnished with canopy beds, dark wood accents and neutral fabrics. Beach villas display expansive porches with Jacuzzis that overlook the ocean. When hunger strikes, there are four restaurants, including a main buffet restaurant. At the buffet, each day is a different theme meal. This means if you don’t like the food one day, try it the next. All-inclusive rates cover unlimited a la carte dinners and many resort activities.
Children are guaranteed a fun time at Gran Bahia. They enjoy Club Principito — a children’s program that arranges daily activities from morning until dusk. These activities include beach games, crafts and miniature golf. They take place at a kids’ area and in the children’s pool. A 24-hour medical service and a pharmacy are available to children. Babysitting is also provided for an extra fee. Three pools and three outdoor Jacuzzis are at the resort.

My husband and I stayed at this resort for 4 nights and enjoyed the people and the attentive friendly service. The resort is beautiful set in a rainforest atmosphere with lovely paths, clean and inviting pools, and welcoming beaches with breath taking views. Our room was a junior suite which offered a large room with a jacuzzi and balcony over looking the Caribbean. Unfortunately we had to take cold showers due to a problem they had with the warm water. Not enjoyable at all! Our butler, Manuel was very helpful and helped make our stay very pleasant. Angel, the bartender at Flamboyan was very eager to make us happy with his special drinks. The disappointing part of our stay was the food. The a la carte restaurants served room temperature meals and very small portions. Don Pablo, the French restaurant was the best dinner we had. Flavorful food even though we left still hungry. We also set up a couples massage which was great! The spa is beautiful with a pool, cold dunk, and sauna. They do try to sell you a vacation club but in my opinion too many things need to be improved in order to want to come back to this resort family.
