Overview
by Whitney Rife
Gran Bahia is located in the heart of the Mayan Riviera in Akumal. It’s about a half an hour outside of Playa del Carmen, which offers many dining options and tourist attractions. Rooms and suites are in three-story villas with views of the sea and the gardens. Units come with air-conditioning, satellite television and a balcony or terrace. Four onsite restaurants offer an array of cuisines, including Italian and Japanese.
Gran Bahia has two pools — one river-style and one beachfront. There is also an aquatic activities center on the premises that provides water sports equipment. Five tennis courts dot the property, as well. A mini-club for kids ages 4 through 12 offers daily age-appropriate activities. The whole family will enjoy the onsite amphitheater that has entertainment shows and live music at night.

Doing a week in Akumal. Staying at the luxury bahia principe
Absolutely beautiful resort.
Great location. The staff are friendly helpful and fun.
Great entertainment with siso and angelo at the infinity pool. The beach is beautiful.
The buffet is mediocre, book your a la Carter asap.
Go see the nightly shows at the diffirent resorts. Many are outside and worth the shuttle ride. Shopping is not great.
But the odd deal is to be found and be ready to barter.
Our room is perfect. And a few pesos in the fridge get you a couple of extra cervesa. Tip the cleaning staff. They will make it worth it.
Overall this place restored my ambition to travel to mexico again.
But the Cancun airport needs to change. 800 plus people in line with 3 immigration officers is wrong.
6 hours to get to our hotel is far too much. And the hotel should try harder to ensure missed transport is available for the guests. Fix these few things and you are in paradise. Try it and enjoy the wonderful people and beach4s of mexico.

These are 3 names that were amongst many many excellent members of staff we came across
While staying here, yes I do agree with the previous writer regarding Luke warm food, the choice
in the buffets was mind blowing, but in our view of decent quality, the alacartes we ate in were absolutely
excellent apart from 1,the service amazing,we didn't quite get to all of them but next time maybe,we
tended to use the buffet by the infinity pool, where Alma amongst the many others in there were a
Credit to the hotel, this was an adults only area including the beach which contained masses of fish in the man made lagoon
perfect clear water but quite stoney as you get so far in so beware.buggies take you round the complex which includes another 4 hotels,Tulum beachfront, premier, coba, and Sian Khan which is adults only across the main road via a bridge,
It was noticeable in other hotels premium spirits were at cost, even in the Akumal certain bars charged as well which
I thought a bit odd, plenty of wildlife about agouti, raccoons, and masses of bird life the suite we were in was block 52 close but far enough away from reception the bathroom was in need of update sooner rather than later, but all in all an excellent
stay,I would slightly disagree with the previous writer regarding waiting staff we never really had long wait issues so
Perhaps we were luck Yes we will return here definitely just a quick word regarding the privilege club, you get invited to a tour round shown the extras you get then shall we say hard sell, not quite time share but near enough,it may suit people but don't waste 2 hours talking to an English woman in an office
