We are here right now on a 15 day stay. We are very pleased with the place. We are simple people and don’t want or need to be pampered. This place is very nice and clean. It is nothing super fancy, but it is exactly what we like. If you are looking for super fancy, go pay $250-300 and (way) up a night somewhere else. This is exactly as it was advertised. The beach view is great and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They will help you book tours or get a taxi, etc. We have been down to ask several questions about things to do etc, and they are very helpful and don’t seem bothered by it at all. They come in and clean every day so the place stays as clean as possible considering it is on the beach and sand is hard to get off your shoes and feet. They are also concerned about your safety, etc. Ex: we told the lady in charge of the front office that we had booked an island tour for the next day. She said to please let her know who we were using. We took her his card and she approved and said he was legit and would take care of us. She didn’t have to do this, but it was appreciated! There are several places to eat right here (the hotel restaurant, the sister hotel restaurant, and the “plywood” restaurant. They are all very good with great beach views. The beach here is very nice and not very crowded. The Gem Holiday is also within walking distance to Grand Anse Beach. We like to walk and usually don’t mind walking several miles to get to stores, etc. This place is within a mile or so of a mall which includes a IGA grocery store. There are a few hills so keep that in mind. If you don’t rent a car you can walk to the store and get a cab back so you aren’t having to carry a lot of groceries. Of course you can also get a taxi to take you both ways. A little passed to mall is Wall Street which has several good trucks and restaurants. I could go on and on. To sum it up, this place is perfect for us. I saw a few negative comments and was amazed. Some were old and perhaps improvements have been made, but in our opinion it’s great. Oh, and to the person who said there “was cold water, and hot water, but no warm”.... that means you have warm water????. We will definitely be back here! The Gem Holiday is a Gem!
