Are you an adventurous, eco-loving family? Does your idea of a perfect vacation include taking a walk on the wild side? Maybe you’re traveling with teens or tweens who want to zip line, see wildlife and go whitewater rafting? If so, head straight for the Gamboa Rainforest Resort.
There isn’t a kid’s club at this eco-lodge, but there are breathtaking views of the rainforest and Panama Canal, a lushly landscaped pool, beautiful gardens and a greenhouse. Although there are daily adventures into the nearby forest and boat trips along the Chagres River — where you’ll see sloths, alligators and monkeys — you won’t be roughing it at these deluxe accommodations. It’s a 1- to 1.5-hour drive from the airport, depending on traffic.

We stayed in Gamboa for several days during our vacation in Panama in July. The staff was really amazing, doing their best to make our stay as pleasant as possible – with succes. The hotel has everything we needed but the service was a bit slow when ordering in the Monkey Bar and the pool Bar. Due to low season only one restaurant was open, but it had buffet with various selection and a’ la carte as well. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very pleasant and the staff was amazing people. The rooms we had was great with a hammock at the balcony, - very nice after a good hike. The area is wonderful with good hiking tracks, and good guided tours. We will absolute recommend a stay at Gamboa Rainforest Resort, as it fulfill the need for relaxing as well as experiences in the rainforest.

My mom and I stayed at the hotel Gamboa for a day in August, 2019. The place itself has a majestic feel to it. You may notice in little details that the place has an age of many years. However, it's still kept clean and very attractive by various services they offer. Our room was spacious with two queen beds. I liked our balcony with a hamaka. What got me to choose the place was the activities that are available there. We went to see their butterfly centre "Mariposarium", sloths rescue centre, poisonous frogs, local night life animals, and the boat tour on the Gatun Lake. Mariposarium was my favourite place where I spent over an hour and could've stayed longer if given more time. What surprised us at the hotel was the restaurant and their buffet. The breakfast buffet is full of varieties and is at reasonable prices. The best part of our experience there was having Panamanian typical Sancocho at our dinner. The soup was absolutely delicious- the best one we have tried in Panama city! We called for the chef to thank him. He came out and was very happy to hear our comments and mentioned we could even order items that were not on the menu. Unfortunately, I cannot remember his name :(, I only remember he is a tall Chinese man. We truly enjoyed our stay there.
