Palo Alto, CA
This Four Seasons is set in East Palo Alto near Silicon Valley and Stanford University. Two hundred rooms and suites showcase and neutral tones and entire walls of windows that overlook the city. Modern furnishings, plush bedding and marble bathrooms are staples at the Four Seasons. For families, rooms are childproofed with cribs, kid-sized bathrobes and toys on request. That’s right — toys come with the room! Quattro is a modern restaurant that offers indoor and terrace dining. Liquido’s has a poolside venue with lunch dishes, like sandwiches and salads. A rooftop pool features a wall of water that constantly streams downward, creating a tranquil environment. An onsite spa is a great place where parents can enjoy a relaxing massage, while the hotel arranges a babysitter for the kids.

Silicon Valley is not my favorite place in this world. I lived here for many years and was happy when we moved away, first to Seattle and now to London. But my husband's work brings us here often and when we can I choose to stay in the East bay where we have friends.
But due to the fires in Sonoma, we landed in SFO and found that our hotel in the East bay had no power. We had also just come from Seattle where there was a death in the family. When my husband said there was availability at the Four Seasons, I was comforted because in all the years of my travel the one hotel chain that has consistently given us the best experiences has been the Four Seasons, whether it be in Boston or Maui.
As expected our room was ready,(they always try and accommodate you if they can for a early check in) my daughter welcomed with a stuffed toy and later with bubble bath goodies, extra tea bags in the room for me when I requested, kindly attentive staff from the gentleman who helped carry our bags to the men at the reception who checked us in. The spa here is a delight because not only is it next to the pool with great food served, it is also always beautifully stocked with all your needs and little snacks and has the best facials and massages.
Many years ago when my daughter got severely sick in Boston and had to be hospitalized, we had stayed at the Four Seasons in Boston after she was released from the hospital and we had all received so much care that the stress of a hospital stay was assuaged in those days in the hotel.
And it is the same I felt here today. After several days at a funeral, tired without much sleep when we arrived here, from the moment I was greeted by the gentleman at the front who I remember from my previous stay, I started to feel better.
It is a privilege for sure to be able to stay at a Four Seasons but if you can afford it, it is worth every cent.

Everyone was very kind and accommodating - the welcome team at the receptions, the bartenders, and the management. The room was great, so was the pool (warm and clean), and the onsite restaurant was very good also. Will be back for sure. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a well-deserved break from the ordinary.
