Overview

This family-run resort has been a staple of Sonoma County since the glamourous 1950s when movie stars like Jayne Mansfield could be found sunning themselves poolside. A historic landmark of Sonoma County, the hotel’s original Flamingo sign remains, but its interior has received a full renovation to create a modern getaway, just an hour from San Francisco. The hotel feature suites, a spa, outdoor pool and onsite dining within minutes of more than 200 wineries found throughout Sonoma County, making it a good stop for families visiting the area.

An oasis in the fires

by worldtravelerinohio

We arrived in Santa Rosa to visit my 99 year old father just at the Kindcaid fire was spreading and the electricity was out for many citizens of the area. The hotel could not be certain if they would be evacuated or not . They were not taking new reservations. Fortunately, we had a reservation. The hotel had generators. They did got out one day for a while, but most of the time, I had wifi and cell phone service
that was not available in other areas around the town. We went to the restaurant to take my Dad out. The food was a little too salty for us.

Very dated

by Mmarymomm

Since most hotels in Wine Country will not let a room for one night on a weekend, we were forced to stay at the Flamingo Resort. We were assigned to a room in the older part of the hotel where the hallways smelled like an old person’s home and there was not even carpeting on the floor of the room. We were charged $400 for this experience in a room that I have seen advertised for around $125. I guess they know when to stick it to the guest.

We received a breakfast voucher for the continental breakfast buffet. There was no bread to toast. I ate a hard boiled egg. The decor is like something out of the 1960’s. It was depressing.

The newer sections of the hotel are much nicer so try to book something in the wings towards the back if you must stay here.
