Overview

It may sound odd to take your kids to a former brewery that’s now an elegant hotel and shopping center, but this can be a charming place during the holidays in particular when families can catch the Christmas Express train to the historic downtown Depot and return for hot chocolate. The hotel hallways have an extra hush that comes from super-thick brick walls that feature historic photos from the brewery’s early days.
Rooms face the city or overlook Lake Superior and the Lakewalk. Some suites include nice balconies, and it’s an easy stroll to Fitger’s eateries and others in the area, including the popular Portland Malt Shoppe next door. The Duluth hotel serves a hot breakfast in a cozy dining room that overlooks the lake and connects to the spacious historic lobby.

I was housed here for a business trip. The venue is historic and there are some elegant components. The view of Lake Superior was outstanding. I appreciated that they actually had pillows with different firmness - an all-too-unusual amenity! The front desk was very helpful, but my issue was housekeeping. I developed a fever and soaked the sheets one night. I indicated that I needed the sheets changed -- they weren't. I also wish the desk area actually had sufficient electrical outlets for my 'stuff.'

I have one suggestion for people who want to stay at this wonderful hotel in Duluth, MN where everything in the room actually works!
CALL JOSH at the front desk. JOSH will personally help you find the very best room for what you want and calling the hotel directly will also be much cheaper than using any travel service.
I stayed in room 408, which JOSH recommended, and this room has one of the best views of anyplace I've stayed in -- in the world.
