You could not ask for a better location in San Francisco but as with any hotel, it's the little things that matter.
Not having bottled water or any form of water other than tap available in your suite is a joke. I get the no plastic bottles movement but in two other Fairmont's I have stayed in this summer they supplied water in large glass bottles to every room. Here the only option was to buy a glass bottle of Voss for $8.00 which just does not feel like the Fairmont way.
Secondly, our daughters wanted to use the well-advertised hotel vehicle to go to a beach that was 1.9 miles away (policy is they only go within two miles of the hotel which is fine). The doorman advised them the beach was actually 2.1 miles away by his calculation and told them they could not take them. It was 3:00 PM and the vehicle was sitting out front of the hotel. I happened to hear him say that and when I not so nicely suggested that they drive them to the 2.0 miles limit and they could walk from there he quickly agreed they could do that. Again I stay in at least 10 different Fairmonts a year and have for years and this is not at all what I would have expected from a Fairmont.
None of these take away from the great location and restaurants nearby but are just disappointing for a Fairmont.

This was a perfect place to stay for a family of 5 sight-seeing in San Francisco. It was wonderful to have a large place to relax in after a busy day. We loved having laundry and a kitchen in our suite. The free breakfast was a perfect way to start our day as well. The staff (especially Jessica H.) were all extremely helpful and arranged rides for us multiple times. It was also fun to relax on the terrace. I'd highly recommend the Fairmont Heritage Place!
