The front desk clerk was not having her best day, apparently. No acknowledgement of status with Marriott, certainly not a room upgrade (first floor view of parking lot), room had a weird smell, carpets in hallway dirty, etc. I would definitely not return. We stayed for proximity to Universal which was great, but the overall experience at the hotel was average to poor. I don't expect the Ritz at this type of property but this was definitely an unexpected stay with this brand.

Fairfield Inn near Universal is a budget hotel located within a 30 minute walk to Universal Studios. As a lifelong member of Marriott Rewards this might be the most disappointing stay we have ever had. The hotel is old and outdated, the receptionist at the front desk seemed to have her mind somewhere else when we checked in and did not acknowledge our status as Marriott Rewards members. The rooms where tired and in need of updating and had a peculiar smell. The mini fridge for some reason will only stay on for 2 hours before turning off. Breakfast was a disaster, food was tasteless and lacked options and was unappealing to look at. This hotel actually provided plastic utensils to consume with your breakfast ( even prisons provide metal utensils with breakfast). We had reservations to stay in this hotel for the following week free of charge and we cancelled it and went to the Hyatt across the street where we had to pay. Disappointing.
