Located downtown, this waterfront hotel that opened in 2013 features a beautiful outdoor pool that overlooks the Chincoteague Bay. Kids can go fishing right off the dock in front of the hotel, too. And the beach at Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, shopping and restaurants are all nearby.

Families can start the day with a free, hot breakfast off the inviting lobby, which has an open concept and features a fireplace. The lobby area is a great gathering space for guests, as well, and offers a place to sit and play a game or read a book.

Two queen beds or a king bed are available in the guestrooms. The bathroom also features a bathtub.

Suites
The spacious suites feature a king or two queen beds and a balcony with chairs. The sitting area features a sleeper sofa and there are two televisions in the suites. The king-bedroom suites offer a stand=up shower, while the queen-bedroom suites feature a bathtub.

Outdoor Pool
The outdoor heated pool is open from Memorial Day through October and it overlooks the Chincoteague Bay. Guests will find plenty of lounge chairs, along with palm trees surrounding the pool deck. Pool towels are provided and umbrellas are available.

The pool is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and there are no lifeguards on duty. A restroom can also be found just off the pool area.

Eco Programs
Fairfield Inn has partnered with a few area businesses, one of which is the Chincoteague Bay Field Station, and they will conduct free eco-programs for kids on the pool deck area at various times throughout the summer. Check with the front desk to see when the next program is taking place at the hotel.

Movie Nights
On certain nights in the summer or on a rainy day, guests will find movie time in the breakfast area, where a large television hangs. Popcorn or cookies will be available and the kid-friendly movie is sure to hit the spot when it's time for a break from the beach.

Free Breakfast
A full, hot complimentary breakfast can be found in the large breakfast area off the lobby. Guests will find eggs, sausage, yogurt and waffles at the breakfast area, which is available from 6 to 10 a.m. each morning. Coffee, tea and juice are available all the times. Guests will love the large tables and the option of eating inside or outside while overlooking the Chincoteague Bay and the pool area.

The Art of Smart Timing
Chincoteague Island is a beach town so the high season runs from about May through Labor Day. However, there are several fall and spring festivals that bring visitors to town, too. The Fairfield Inn & Suites also sees a peak time in the spring for corporate travel.

Getting There
Driving to Chincoteague Island is a family's best option, or arriving by boat. The Salisbury-Ocean City Wicomico Regional Airport, located in Maryland, is about an hour from the Fairfield Inn & Suites. Norfolk International Airport is about two hours away.

Getting Around
There are several restaurants and shops within walking distance to the Fairfield Inn & Suites. Biking is also big in Chincoteague. While you can bike to the beach at Chincoteague Island National Wildlife Refuge, it is a few miles away, so families may prefer to drive. If you plan to venture off the island, a car is needed.

Visit the nearby restaurant, Jackspot, which is not technically part of the hotel, but is located across the parking lot and managed by the hotel owners. The seafood restaurant serves lunch and dinner in a casual atmosphere on the waterfront. And while kids are welcome, it also makes for a great date night for mom and dad.
