Recent 5-night stay at Explorer Cabins in West Yellowstone. Truly impressed with facility...essentially every amenity required for comfort/convenience supplied, including binoculars for use in Yellowstone while staying! All personnel were very courteous, professional, and helpful, especially Ted the night auditor, who went above and beyond in helping with a minor charge snafu. S'mores provided were especially great on the night of several inches of snow! Certainly enjoyed the town of West Yellowstone with it's close proximity to the Yellowstone entrance,it's local supermarkets, shops, and restaurants.Would strongly recommend this cozy, clean, comfortable facility.

We enjoyed our stay in our cabin. We had no. 11 which is the Old Faithful Disability friendly thcabin, although we didn’t need it for this reason.
It was spacious for my husband and I. I wouldn’t recommend this particular cabin for a family, although 1 child on sofa would be ok. There is a little kitchenette which can get a bit crowded and no dining table but It was totally fine for us 2.
Unfortunately there wasn’t a bench in the bathroom adjoining the basin but a little fold up table instead, for all our products. It spoilt the nice spacious bathroom.
Regardless of being wheelchair friendly, it’s still possible to have a wheelchair friendly bench.
The bedroom was nice and spacious and had a beautiful comfortable bed and linen. It’s in the top 3 of comfy beds we’ve had in USA in my 20 or so hotels I’ve stayed in.
A Beautiful atmosphere in living area, with a gas fire place. Little deck outside with seating, although too cold for us to use during our visit. It snowed for the 3 days we were here (from 30 September).
I felt it was a bit over priced compared to all the other places we have stayed, but I guess being single seperate cabins, like a little house with seperate bedroom (which was great) so it comes with additional costs to that of a hotel room in one big building. You can use the facilities of the 2 hotels close by also. Pool, spa, laundry etc.
it’s a convenient location to Main Street. Walking distance.
Couple of gripes.....
I handed by travel money card over to pay for the $10 per night amenity fee, and without any app
roval from myself I noticed on my statement later that day that I had been charged the outstanding 2nights which really impacted by traveling funds. I had previously given my credit card which had been charged one night, so why on earth they thought it was ok to just charge my travel card, with no approval was an extremely frustrating issue. Trying to sort it out with the front desk receptionist was impossible.
A week later another amount came off my card, leaving me with NO spending money at all. The manager didn’t bother to reply to any of the 3 emails I sent nor call me back.
The upshot was they credited my account back and provided me with 2 nights free accommodation which was great, however it still put me in a very difficult and stressful financial position while traveling with no explanation or apology as to why almost $1,000 was charged to my card without approval. For this reason it’s not a business I’ll ever recommend or deal with again.
The fridge made a whistling noise which was extremely irritating. If your in cabin 11, here is a tip. Turn the dial down a little and it will cool down and the noise will stop. But you may have to turn fridge up again, when your not home to ensure it stays cold.
Just a tip if management are reading. A paper towel holder and tea towel hook on the bare wall above sink would be very convenient. There is little bench space, so the paper towel could be on wall instead. Tongs would be helpful too as part of the cutlery.
If you stay here try to get cabin no.s 1 - 11 as they are a little bit further back on a quieter road off street than the other 2 areas that have the cabins. Those cabins are on the road frontage, where as the 11 cabins in our area, have a car park seperating them from the road. They are located in a half circle rather than all facing towards road. Cabins 12 to 22 are a similar layout but on a corner.
See my photo supplied.
We enjoyed coming back to our cabin each day after being out in the cold. It was very comfy. Like our own little house. Recommend if your willing to pay the higher costs compared to other Accomodation in town. A nice experience apart from the financial issues. I’ve learnt my lesson. I’ll never hand my travel money card over to a hotel again.
