This historic hotel in downtown Jefferson is the oldest hotel in East Texas, and everyone from Lady Bird Johnson to Oscar Wilde has stayed here. Families will love the tasty southern breakfasts ($12.95 per person) and welcoming vibe.

My friend & I stayed here for 3 nights & we liked the look of the hotel. We were in Rm 205 & it was beautiful with a newly renovated bathroom, so that was nice. The room was very cramped & the table between chairs was wobbly. This is a historical hotel so do not expect the stuff that is in normal hotels. No elevator, narrow curved steps to take up luggage. No fridge, no iron, no blow dryer. We had to drive to Marshal to get the blow dryer & iron. No breakfast except for Sunday. It was 12.95. The coffee in the lobby was free & very good quality. There was a nice back porch but we didn’t know it was there till our last day while we checked out & there was a tour of hotel but we didn’t notice sign till checking out, if they had said we could do that when we checked in we would have loved it. Ice maker on bottom floor so plan to go up & down steps. The front desk employees & general manager were great. The Sunday we were checking out was apparently planned on for some kind of food vendors (Taste of Jefferson). We got notes on Saturday not to park anywhere in front of hotel or even anywhere on that street!! That was the only parking, on the street. So we parked a couple blocks away & the general manager was nice enough to go with my friend to get her car, since a barricade had to be moved, & help her get into the alley behind hotel to load our luggage. 2 women+7 days away+3 hotels=lots of luggage!! This was stupid of the town of Jefferson to do because if they had started setting up at 11:00 instead of 9:00, the hotel guests could be checked out or moved their vehicle. I would probably go back if ever in that area but would be better prepared with blow dryer & a good cooler & husband to carry everything up the stairs.

Enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff comfortable bed. Couldn't find any ghost activity. Was disappointed about the breakfast. Asked what they had for breakfast and told the lady we wanted to try it but she never said anything about signing up for it so we missed out.
