I very much enjoyed by stay at the EVEN Hotel Times Square South. The staff were friendly and welcoming and seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs. The hotel is located in a great neighborhood - Very close to both Madison Square Garden and Penn Station. The rooms are quite large and are in perfect condition. The hotel is part of a sub-chain of IHG that focuses on fitness - It's an interesting concept in my opinion. Included in the room is some exercise equipment as well as a manual describing different ways to use the equipment and furniture to work out. Also included is a mesh bag to put your gym clothes in to be washed - This is included in the daily destination fee. The room is very well though out and quite enjoyable to stay in - I especially enjoyed the adjustable mood lighting behind bed. I would very much recommend staying here!

Had 5 nights here in October 2019 and really enjoyed our stay (Family of 4). Rooms very clean and comfortable. Bathroom spacious and delighted to see IHG ditch the single use plastic shampoo/body wash bottles for large refillable bottles in the shower). Gym equipment is a good idea, although we rarely used it. Appreciated the free water bottle - although could have done with a few more for the rest of the family. The gym/swiss ball was a bit annoying as there wasn't really anywhere to store it without it getting in the way.
Beds/pillows were extremely comfortable and hotel was quiet (we were on the 14th floor) so had no issue getting a good night's sleep every night. Rooms could do with more storage space - not really set up for anyone staying longer than a few nights. We got by, but would have appreciated extra hanging space and another drawer or two.
Staff at the hotel were excellent, and really came to the fore when helping us to get an extra night following the cancellation of our flight home. The EVEN hotel was fully booked up, but they rang around the IHG hotels and were able to source us a room at the Crowne Plaza on 35th street (1 minute walk away). They didn't have to do that for us, but they did and it certainly took stress away from us.
Table tennis table and foosball were loved by the kids and the small, but quiet, bar offered a relaxing place at the end of a busy day of sightseeing.
Some reviews do comment on the area and the number of homeless people. We found the hotel to be extremely convenient to MSG, Penn Station, Subway, Empire State and there were some great places for breakfast. Homelessness is a massive problem in New York and I wouldn't say that midtown / 34th street was any different from anywhere else in Manhattan. We never felt uncomfortable walking around the area and would have no hesitation staying here.
Our room had 2 double beds, which isn't always ideal when travelling with 2 kids, however it was nigh on impossible to find a hotel with 1 double and 2 singles (we couldn't afford a hotel with an interconnecting room), however no beds were big enough to avoid the kids moaning about it !!
A 5 star rating from me, should we go back to NYC again, we'd definitely book into the EVEN hotel again.
