Overview

EPIC Hotel is the flagship property of Kimpton Hotels, and one of the most prominent properties in Miami. The sexy hotel booms day and night, with a cluster of cars and people outside the hotel at all hours, the sound of pulsating music just a few blocks away.

It doesn’t seem like a kid-friendly hotel at first, and even the lobby might be off-putting, with fancy artwork and the ambience of a corporate office. Still, the hotel manages to offers a kids’ program (Kimpton Kids), complete with goodie bags and in-room goldfish; two deluxe rooftop pools; and rooms with spacious balconies. Most of them feature glorious views of Biscayne Bay, though the city views — especially awe-inspiring at night — are just as good. The hotel also offers an onsite restaurant with kids’ options and a location in the heart of one of America’s most unique cities.

The EPIC Hotel in Miami is — epic (sorry, we had to say it).

Room Information

Find the Best Price for Your Stay

All rooms at EPIC feature complimentary bathrobes (including kids' sizes), yoga kits, mini-bars (complete with local treats), deluxe linens and toiletries, and best of all, spacious balconies -- a hotel rarity in Miami. Cribs and rollaway beds are available upon request and at no additional charge, though use of both is limited in some rooms. Connecting rooms and mini-fridges are also available if requested in advance.

Most bathrooms have both showers and tubs, but be sure to note your preferences when booking.

City View Double Double
This is the most basic room option for families, with two double beds. It is 475 square feet in size.

Water View One-Bedroom Suites
These suites, which measure 950 square feet, have floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies that afford beautiful views of Biscayne Bay. They have one king bed, but can be connected to a parlor with a queen bed to accommodate families of four.

Junior Suites
Junior Suites are similar to One-Bedroom Suites, just slightly smaller at 700 square feet in size. They have one king bed, but can be connected to a parlor (with a queen bed) to sleep four guests.

Tall Rooms
EPIC offers 13 guestrooms for those who are lucky enough to be tall! Beds measure 96 inches, and showerheads are raised in bathrooms. Tall Rooms are available for those who select Water King View Premier Rooms (which sleep two guests).

Presidential Suites
If you can splurge, Presidential Suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows; one bedroom with a king bed; two balconies (one in the bedroom); nanny's quarters; and access to EPIC's Club Level Lounge. They also include separate parlors with dining tables, living areas and an additional queen bed and bathroom for "guests who get jealous" (or the kids). Presidential Suites can sleep five to six guests in total.

Club Level + Lounge
These rooms are located on the building's 29th and 30th floors and offer the best views of all. They're available in City View Double Double (two double beds), Junior Suites, One-Bedroom Suites and Presidential Suites. Those who stay in these rooms enjoy the private Club Lounge, where five food presentations are provided each day. Guests of these rooms also enjoy a personalized arrival experience and complimentary newspapers.

Additionally, the hotel offers a Water View King Premier and City View King Premier, which sleep up to two guests.

Staycation

by maritsay

We were in town for an event. The hotel was in a great location to walk or for a short upper trip. Robert checked us in, Miguel was great at breakfast, and I enjoyed the barre class with Amber. We booked with our American Express so got an upgraded room with a nice view. Price was super reasonable.

Birthday Trip!

by KC1185

Just checked in at the Epic for a quick birthday getaway with the hubby and I'm already impressed! Sam at the front desk was the sweetest and very helpful! This will definitely be a getaway to remember!

Family Activities

Pools
The hotel offers two gorgeous, rooftop pools; one is an infinity pool, frequented mostly my adults, while the other tends to be popular with families. There aren't any lifeguards on duty. Towels, cabanas and lounge pods are available. The pool is open sunrise to sunset.

Bikes
The hotel has 10 complimentary bikes for adults and two just for kids, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Helmets are also provided.

Kimpton Kids
Kids are treated like royalty from the moment they arrive at EPIC. They receive backpacks full of coloring books, bubbles and other treats, and find goldfish in their room (request in advance)!

Family Dining

Area 31
Area 31 serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a chic, yet casual space by the rooftop pools. The restaurant offers a full breakfast buffet or continental breakfast each morning, followed by burgers and small plates for lunch. Dinner focuses mostly on fish, though steak and chicken are also available. Both outdoor and indoor seating is available, as is a kids' menu that includes grilled cheese, grilled fish, peanut butter and jelly and chicken fingers. Highchairs are available.

Area 31 is open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday to Thursday and Sunday (closing briefly before lunch and dinner), and 7 to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Area 31 offers happy hours daily, as well as brunch on weekends.

Wine Reception
The hotel offers a nightly wine reception from 5 to 6 p.m. -- one of the best perks at Kimpton Hotels. The hotel occasionally provides special drinks for little ones, too.

In-Room Dining
Courtesy of Area 31, room service is available 24 hours, with a limited menu late at night.

Whole Foods
Whole Foods has a location just one block from the hotel -- go there to stock up on snacks for your room. If you don't have a refrigerator in your room, you'll still be able to squeeze a few small items in the mini-bar.

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras
Kimpton Karma
Sign up for Kimpton Karma, a free rewards program that includes complimentary Wi-Fi, a $10 credit for mini-bars (per stay), room customizations (pillows and more) and points toward freebies and discounts on nightly rates and at hotel restaurants.

Fitness Center
The hotel offers a fairly extensive fitness center, which faces the rooftop pools. It offers cardio and weight machines, plus free weights, and is open 24 hours.

Forgot It? We've Got It
If you're in need of toiletries, contact the front desk -- the concierge will be able to provide you with razors, bandages, deodorant and the like. The hotel will also be able to help you with other items to make your stay as comfortable as possible, such as white noise machines.

Pet Policy
The hotel welcomes all pets (except exotic animals) at no additional charge to guests. As a Kimpton Hotel, it also provides pet beds, bowls, walking maps and more.

Check-In/Check-Out
Check-in is at 4 p.m. and check-out is at noon.

The Art of Smart Timing
Miami is hot year-round, which makes it a prime vacation destination no matter the season. Peak season, however, actually takes place during the winter months, November to February, which means families will find the best rates during the summer months.

Getting There
Fly into Miami International Airport and utilize SuperShuttle. It'll drop you off right at the hotel and is affordable at $15 per person. Reservations aren't required, though you can easily make them online in advance. If you have a small family, you can also take a taxi for about $30.

Getting Around
You'll find plenty of public transportation in Miami, a city where people rarely walk long distances in the heat. In some cases, it's even free -- try the MetroMover, which runs 5 a.m. to midnight on two loops: Omni and Brickell (use Brickell to get to the hotel). If you're planning to stay at EPIC pre- or post-cruise (many guests do), it's only a 10-minute cab ride to the Port of Miami.

If you'll have a car while you're in town, it's $39 to park it at the hotel overnight, and $20 for the day.

For Mom and Dad
Call concierge for babysitting recommendations so you can head to Exhale, the hotel's spa (an atypical perk at Kimpton Hotels). The spa offers 14 treatment rooms, including one just for couples. Treatments include everything from traditional massages to detox programs. Afterward, head to Lilt Lounge (located in the lobby) for handcrafted cocktails.

Toro Toro, located at the InterContinental Miami, is a fantastic option if you're looking to leave the hotel. Located just around the corner, the restaurant features delicious steaks and seafood. Order La Bomba for dessert (or your meal). Your waiter will bring out a big chocolate bowl and crack it on the table -- out will come ice cream, fresh fruit and brownie bites!
