Overview

Formerly the Hilton Washington Embassy Row, the Embassy Row Hotel underwent a $15-million renovation in 2014 and 2015. The extensive facelift — which practically transformed the hotel completely — included updates in all guestrooms, a new fitness center and upgraded public spaces. It also included the addition of a new restaurant. Perhaps the most important overhaul, however, included the rooftop pool — the hotel’s best feature (particularly for families), and one that offers some of the best views of our nation’s capitol.

Reviews

Great location, comfortable and friendly.

by 248garyb

We stayed for five nights in November at the Embassy Row Hotel in DC and had an enjoyable visit. We found the staff friendly, especially Aisha at the front desk. The hotel met our expectations; the building is not new but the room was tidy, the bed comfortable and the shower great. The bathroom is rather small, but we didn't come to DC to spend our time in the hotel room. The location on Dupont Circle was within walking distance to many tourist sites. Overall we liked The Embassy Row Hotel and thought it gave us good value for our money.

Chic & comfy in perfect location

Gorgeous lobby, helpful staff, nice rooms with comfy beds, lovely views, easy to walk to the Philips Collection and all the restaurants and bookstores in Dupont Circle. The value was excellent - would stay here again.

Family Activities

Rooftop Pool
The rooftop and pool at the Embassy Row Hotel are worthy of a visit. In fact, the hotel offers a limited number of daily pool passes for $25; after 5 p.m., a limited number of non-guests can access the pool free of charge. The rooftop pool is surrounded by cabanas and chaise lounges, and features views of the city skyline. It's typically open Memorial Day through Labor Day. The rooftop is a popular hangout for happy hour, though kids are always welcome.

Games
The hotel offers foosball and Ping Pong on the basement level, where a new fitness facility is also available.

Nearby Attractions
As the name implies, the Embassy Row Hotel is located on Embassy Row, close to Dupont Circle, a popular area for dining and nightlife, as well as the Dupont Circle Metro Station.

Family Dining

Station Kitchen
Located next to the hotel lobby, Station Kitchen offers indoor and outdoor seating in a scene straight out of Pinterest. In the morning, you'll find fresh coffee and breakfast specialties, such as sandwiches and pastries, and in the evening, Station Kitchen serves up handcrafted cocktails and tapas-style bites. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available. The atmosphere is best for adults, though kids are welcome.

Station Kitchen also offers a Chef's Pantry, a convenience for families in particular. The pantry provides fresh, on-the-go items; only a few items are put on shelves at one time to ensure everything is fresh. The Chef's Pantry is open 24 hours.

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras
Hotel Fee
The hotel charges a daily fee of $9.95, which covers Wi-Fi and access to the pool and fitness center.

Fitness Center
Introduced in 2015, the hotel's fitness center offers a large selection of cardio machines, plus free weights.

Pet Policy
The Embassy Row Hotel allows dogs on select floors for a non-refundable fee of $100 per stay. There are no weight restrictions, though dogs must be kenneled if left alone in the room.

The Art of Smart Timing
Although it's located in a quiet location, the Embassy Row Hotel swells with visitors during the summer months -- it's one of few hotels to offer a rooftop pool (and it arguably offers some of the best views in the city). Summertime is the best time to visit the hotel, too, though it's also a nice choice for winter visits.

Getting There
If you have to fly into D.C., opt to land at Washington Dulles International Airport or Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The latter is located closest to the hotel, but Washington Dulles is serviced by more flights. Rent a car or consider bus service via SuperShuttle.

Getting Around
There's a charge of $45 per night for valet parking ($26 for temporary day parking). The hotel is within walking distance to the Dupont Circle Metro Station, as well as restaurants and local attractions.

For Mom and Dad
Enjoy cocktails and tapas at Station Kitchen, or walk to Firefly (a signature restaurant at Hotel Madera - A Kimpton Hotel) for an equally eclectic atmosphere and delicious, down-home fare.
