The hotel opened in 1962 and “El Trop” as it is known was the first hotel on San Antonio’s River Walk, inspired by the casual elegance of Acapulco’s beach resort. Don’t Waste Your Money

Short and Sweet review. They would not turn on the AC to the entire Tower. Bed was swayback. Bed coverings and carpet stained. Terrible location. Slow check in and checkout. I suggest you spend a little more and stay away from this dump. Thanks for ruining our 30 Year Anniversary stay in San Antonio El Tropicano!!!!!!!

The best experience and value in San Antonio

I love this hotel soooooo much, it's the only hotel I stay at when I'm in San Antonio...I'm from Austin, frequently go to San Antonio for concerts, vacas to the riverwalk. The EL TROPICANA HOTEL is by far the best place to stay for the money, customer service, and all around vibe...kinda throw back '70's vibe...emasculate service as soon as you walk in. If anything is wrong they fix it...breakfast buffet is to die for...pool are is amazing, if you're staying in San Antonio...definitely stay at THE EL TROPICANA HOTEL! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!
