Overview
by Karon Warren
Opened in 2009, this family-friendly hotel is conveniently located to Louisiana State University, downtown Baton Rouge and all that this southern city has to offer. To keep the hotel fresh and comfortable for guests, the property underwent a soft goods renovation in 2014, wherein all linens, upholstery and other soft goods were replaced.
In addition to updated soft goods, this hotel also offers a wealth of amenities that families will love. For instance, kids will love the indoor/outdoor swimming pool and nearby indoor hot tub. Parents will love feeding the whole family at the free hot breakfast, the 5:30 Kickback with dinner entrees, and even free snacks with free soda and popcorn. Plus, they’ll have spacious guestrooms outfitted with a microwave, a refrigerator and a coffeemaker.

We stayed here with our 5 kids for the weekend so that they could swim. We had a two queen suite and had no problems with it. It was very spacious. The complimentary breakfast and evening meal were great. The pool was half indoor and half outdoor. The kids loved it. We have stayed here several times before and will definitely stay again.

Our room was large, comfortable and conveniently located. The staff was friendly and courteous. Breakfast buffet had many choices and the food was hot and plentiful. Everything was well maintained. The lobby is modern, clean and large.

The Art of Smart Timing
The Drury Inn & Suites Baton Rouge experiences high occupancy during the summer and fall, with lower occupancy from January through April. When booking a room, you'll find the best rates by booking directly through the hotel website.
Getting There
The Drury Inn & Suites Baton Rouge is just 12 miles from Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR) and 65 miles north of Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY). The hotel does not provide complimentary airport shuttle service. A one-way taxi ride from Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport is approximately $20. For those driving, the hotel is located right off of Interstate 10 at Exit 160 (Essen Lane).
Getting Around
Generally speaking, a car is necessary to get around Baton Rouge from the hotel. And although you can take Essen Lane to reach many of the city's sights and attractions, you may want to avoid doing so between 4 and 6 p.m. on weekdays due to a high volume of traffic. Although it may seem like a longer route, traveling to the hotel via Interstate 10 could be your better option given you can exit and almost immediately turn into the hotel at a traffic light.
In the event you do not have a car, there is a bus stop (part of Route 60/Medical Circulator) right outside the hotel. Bus service is provided by the Capitol Area Transit System. The fare is $1.75 per person, and children younger than 5 can travel free with a paying adult. It may be necessary to change buses to reach your final destination, which will require additional fares. Check the CATS website for full route and fare information.
For Mom and Dad
For parents who find themselves kid-free for a few hours, head downstairs for a glass of wine during the 5:30 Kickback. Within 4 miles of the hotel, you'll find a selection of restaurants where you can enjoy a quiet dinner for two.
