I recently stayed at the Doubletree while attending an event at the convention center. The location is convenient, but they could use some improvement in their customer service. I had an ongoing problem with the thermostat in the room, but basically was told it was fine when it wasn't. The heater would run, but even set at 65, it would keep heating and heating. I spent both nights turning the heater on and off manually. Getting in and out of bed is not conducive to a good night's sleep.
A few nights later, I was staying at the Hilton Bellevue, and mentioned that I hadn't been able to get hot water the night before, and she instantly credited me 5K points, and said she would speak to maintenance. The next night I was able to take a hot bath! Service with a smile!
The Spokane Hilton also charges you $10 if you have a package delivered. I'm a Diamond member who spends a 100 nights a year at Hilton properties, and I have never had to pay to have a package delivered in the past. It is on their website, but it's not easy to find! You have to hunt for it.
They also charge $7 to upgrade from the continental breakfast to the full breakfast if you are a Gold or Diamond member. Doubletrees did start charging, but the Doubletree Spokane charges more than any other Doubletree at which I've stayed, and their buffet is very ordinary! No berries, no lovely croissants, ordinary jam. I paid $4 for the Doubletree in Portland breakfast upgrade and it's delicious!
I believe they are taking advantage of their location. Staying at a hotel that is connected to the convention center is convenient, but they really could upgrade their food and service!

The valets were pleasant, even though I did not use the service! Front desk/check in was speedy and efficient even though I goofed. The cookies are delicious! My room was ready when I arrived (early) and the maid was gracious in slipping me a couple extra coffee packets.
Room was clean and well stocked.
Check out was a breeze and the location is great with the river walk right there and easy access to things to do.
All in all an excellent hotel stay!!
