Used to be my favorite

by travelexperts2016

I am a repeater. Everytime I go to Tokyo, I stay in this hotel. Recently the quality and services are declining. They used to have a shuttle pick up service from Tokyo Station, but now they service only one way from the hotel to the station. My favorite UCC coffee machine was replaced with another machine. That was the biggest disappointment. They still have a drink machine that guests can use for 24 hours, but Oolong tea, which was my favorite, was removed from the selection. Also they got rid of my favorite shampoo, Tsubaki Shiseido. Their Pola diluted shampoo damages my hair :( The reason why this hotel is popular is because of their natural hot spring. They shortened the opening hours of the hot spring. At the enterance of the hot spring is super slippery. I fell there twice! The showers are right next to the entrance and rinsed soap gets there. They need to install a handrail or something. Be careful! Their buffet breakfast is very good but I always over eat :) Considering all, I may stay somewhere else next time.

Excellent hotel, but English was spotty

by EmilyBrenn

We loved staying at Dormy Inn and found it to be the best value accommodation while we were in Japan. We stayed here for three nights while primarily exploring the east side of Tokyo and going to Tokyo Disney. The location was convenient to many train lines and the free shuttle to Tokyo Station was excellent.

The amenities like free ramen, onsen, and toiletries in the room made our travel a much more relaxing experience.

However, we struggled more with the English levels of the staff here compared to other hotels, which normally wouldn’t bother me (this location especially seemed to cater to Japanese businessmen) except for an incident with a front desk staff member our last day. I approached, asked in Japanese if English was ok (she said ok), and proceeded to ask my question about checking out and bag storage. She then responded “OK” to everything I said/asked even when that didn’t make sense as an answer. As I left the front desk confused, I then heard her speak to another staff member who was there and much giggling. It did not feel good.

Overall though, we would stay here again and would recommend it to any travelers in Tokyo.
