The 18 guestrooms and suites at the Dolphin Bay hotel are sure to please. Families will enjoy twin and queen beds in the various rooms, which range from standard one-room studios to two-bedroom suites. Rollaway beds are available, which allow the rooms to sleep up to six, and kitchens are standard in every accommodation type. The hotel offers free breakfast daily, though no restaurant for lunch or dinner. It is close to downtown Hilo where families can shop and dine. Parking and Wi-Fi are also free at this hotel. There is no pool, but Dolphin Bay is close to Volcanoes National Park where families can enjoy an outdoor adventure.

We Visit Hilo once or twice a year, usually to break the monotony of everyday life. Usually, we stay at a hotel on Banyon Drive, but this time decided to try Dolphin Bay. Excellent choice on our part! The staff is very friendly and personally escorted us to our room -- a spacious one with a generous balcony. Breakfast is included; while modest (continental style), it was very enjoyable. Homemade banana bread is served every day (yummy), and there is always freshly brewed coffee and local fresh papaya and bananas. Located a short walk across a small bridge over the Wailuku River from the main business section of Hilo, we were able to walk to numerous shops within a few minutes. The comfort of the hotel set the tone for the most enjoyable visit to Hilo we have ever experienced. this hotel is a giant step above the usual cookie-cutter hotels everywhere.

My wife found another great place to stay. Easy access yet out of the way yet near by everything in old town Hilo. Clean, wonderful suites with small kitchen. A wonderful Lanai, so peaceful we just got lost in the moment. Kona coffee served in the morning with fresh baked banana bread with fresh papayas from their tree. Close to Hilo Farmers Market, Jackie Rey’s and other nice cafes. Staff were wonderful. A great house cat and geckos galore. we’ll be back.
