Overview

At the Del Sol Beachfront in North Akumal on Half Moon Bay, every guestroom includes beachfront views and a patio or balcony where families can kick back and relax. Whether families choose a basic hotel room (sleeps four) or a two- or three-bedroom condominium (sleeps five and seven, respectively), they’ll have plenty of space throughout their vacation. Plus, all condos include a full kitchen, living room, dining area and a hammock, plus direct beach access. When it’s time to play outside, you can rent a bike, snorkel equipment, kayak and paddle board right at the front desk, or just head to the swimming pool or beach. There’s also an onsite restaurant, as well as an onsite grocery store.

Great City, Hotel

I am really glad I decided to base my stay in Akumal for my time in the Yucatan. It is 30 minutes to the Tulum area and 30 to Playa Del Carmen. Those other places are bigger, not so attractive cities. Akumal is a small beach community with gated access at night. Most of the tourist activity is limited to the front of the road, so you don't really have to deal with that. As for the hotel, I had a nice second story room with a hammock on the balcony. The beachfront is a nice plus, but the beaches in Akumal Bay overall are pretty rocky. You have to pick and choose carefully where to enter the ocean. Once you get several meters off shore, the rocks will disappear, but getting in and out can be tricky. This is a good value and community to pick for those that don't want to interact with the busy tourist areas.

Decent for one night

We were only here for one night. Great location but the seaweed was very bad in front of the hotel so not able to really enjoy the beach front because of the smell. Room was small, shower pressure ok. Very friendly staff.
