I've just had the pleasure of hosting a 7 night yoga retreat at Daku in a shala that must boast one of the most beautiful aspects in the world. Even with the ever changing skyline between blue and grey it was divine as we looked out of the lush green gardens and colourful flowers. We were welcomed as family and enjoyed beautiful meals together thanks to Tony and his great team, George who acted as our constant companion from serving our meals to joining us on our chosen activities, Josika who assisted from reception with all manner of changing arrangements due to weather conditions and JJ and Delia as owners who joined us for dinner with entertaining conversation and insightful information of the island. This resort isn't 5 star - and that was exactly what I wanted. I wanted a place that resonated with love and community, that offered my students a true feel of what Savusavu and it's surrounds was about and no-one was disappointed. We did trips to villages, the Methodist church, waterfalls, the Blue Lagoon, wandered the township, and were greeted by all who came into our contact. I"d love to take my family back and most of all would love to return with another yoga group. This truly is the "real fiji", away from the busy-ness of Australian families and honeymooners on the bigger island. A true delight and one that I look forward to returning to soon.
