Near the Los Angeles International airport, the Custom Hotel is minutes from Manhattan Beach and walking distance from a 28-lane bowling alley, for those rare L.A. rainy days that may take you away from the beach on your vacation. Simple, yet comfortable rooms include deluxe doubles with two double beds and one- and two-bedroom suites with separate living and sleeping areas. The lining areas provide pullout sofas with two queen beds in the two-bedroom and a king bed in the one-bedroom suite. Rooms overlook the LAX runways so kids can watch planes taking off with the ocean in the background. All rooms include noise canceling windows so you won’t hear the aforementioned planes. They also feature flat-screen TVs, refrigerators, and free Wi-Fi.
Features of the hotel include onsite dining at Deck 33 for dinners, and a pool with a multi-tiered sun deck. Free shuttle service to the airport is also provided.

I imagine that there will be a flood of bad reviews after this weekend. I was there for a conference next door (location WAS great for me) and it was kind of a nightmare. The hotel was under a tremendous amount of construction— noisy, dusty, peeling wall coverings, broken bathrooms, and that was before check in. The check in process waS a mess and not ready at 3. I didn’t get in my room until 5!! The rooms are refreshed and contemporary if not spartan but weird. The carpet was SISAL over concrete. Let that sink in. It literally HURT to walk on. I had to put towels down to walk over. The mattress was comfy but very soft. It won’t hold up. Also because it was on a bare platform, the pillows kind of slid down behind the mattress. Ugh. The construction noise starts at like 7 am and it’s LOUD. the whole hotel is loud. You can hear all the traffic and planes from the airport. The pool was too dirty to swim in and don’t let the pictures fool you— it’s overlooking a lovely California Ralph’s parking lot. Very scenic. At the $100 price point advertised now you’d be just barely getting your money’s worth but I paid nearly twice that at a “conference rate” which was the icing on the cake. Also still no receipt! Fun! It’s a mess and no one was particularly helpful or kind so that tells me the management sucks. Avoid.

The staff here is amazing, kind, friendly. The location is great with airport shuttle. There is fresh hot coffee in lobby in morning. Our first room with the Hotel vendor deal was terrible- no table or chair in the room thin mattress, curtains looked dingy and dirty, odd smell and the walls were literally painted gray with no art work or anything on the wall. We asked for an upgrade - we paid extra but it was SO worth it! We got a lovely room very fresh, clean, comfortable, good mattress with nice bedding. We could not even believe the difference in rooms! Sooo nice! Everyone is super friendly, just be sure you get a remodeled room. We understand all will be remodeled by 2020, but until then there are some great rooms and some not so great!
