We often stop at this hotel a few times a year when we travel to Acadia. This time we actually wondered if it was under new management. There were definitely signs of wear and need of improvement to the physical plant. More disturbing, one pillowcase had a nasty stain, the sink didn’t drain well and I even had to replace the toilet paper as the roll was completely empty. (Not that that’s a big deal but rather an indication as to the lack of attention to detail). We will give it one more try before moving on. We have always enjoyed stopping there.

We were in the Freeport area for an overnighter so I wanted to book something affordable. Other hotels in this price range were all booked up so we landed on the Quality Inn for $173 for the night. It was just OK with some big negatives. The check in process was a nightmare... Check in was at 3PM but we arrived at 2:45PM and the parking lot was basically empty so we went into the lobby to try to check in. The lady at the front desk just told us no rooms were ready yet, which is fine since we were 20 minutes early at this point. We returned at 3:45PM, gave our information to the same lady again, and then we were told that rooms were still not available (45 minutes after check in). She told us she was going to “do rounds” and see when rooms would be available. She disappeared for 20ish minutes and we sat in the lobby. As we waited, 5 people lined up at the lobby looking to check in. She at last returned and instead of telling us right away that our room was ready .. she started checking in SOMEONE WHO ARRIVED AFTER US RIGHT IN FRONT OF US. My boyfriend had to interject and say “is our room ready????” And quite frankly I think if he did not say something she would have checked the whole line in with us standing there in plain sight, ignoring us. The room was just ok.. A few things stuck out to me: the couch cushions were on the wrong way, the previous guest’s coffee creamer was left in the fridge, dust on the curtains, and there was a stain on the bed skirt and small red stain on the wall near the bottom of the bed (gross?). The room itself needs an upgrade; the rug was stained and the furniture was beat up. But I felt the bed and bathroom were clean enough, which is the most important to me. We also got a room that faced the highway and it was so loud at night I actually got up to make sure the window was closed. (It was). Overall, this hotel is very dated and the staff isn’t friendly. I wouldn’t recommend staying here and if you are going to then I wouldn’t stay beyond one night. Next time I’ll spend more for a better stay elsewhere!!
