At check in we were told a water main burst so there was no water, and we'd only be able to flush the toilet once. I managed to get to the store to get some jugs of water before they closed. We were surprised not to receive any notification prior to our arrival. Had we been notified we could have changed our stay to another Comfort Inn (we drove past the Cambridge location on our way to Guelph) or even chosen to stay home.
I understand the water issues water are beyond the control of the hotel, but communication of the issue and adressing some of the consequences is not. The lack of coffee and beverages at breakfast the next morning is less excusable - bring it in from elsewhere).
Beyond the water I was also disappointed with our bed (which was not as comfortable as expected) and the cleanliness of the linens (one of our pillowcases was soiled somehow), and the eggs at breafast were also not up to the standard from the chain.
I realize that this is not a five star resort but clean linens and the ability to use a toilet and take a shower in the morning are generally the minimum I expect from any hotel stay. On their own any of these issues might be dismissed but the combination made for one of the most disappointing hotel stays I've ever had. I was frankly rather surprised not to be offered a discount or a refund either at check out or in response to my emails.
Pros: Location is convenient, price would have been reasonable had we received the expected quality of stay
