The historic Colonial Terrace is one of Carmel’s oldest hotels, opening in 1930. The location can’t be beat. It’s a short walk to downtown Carmel and the beach is only 72-steps away. Colonial Terrace partners with local attractions, such the Monterey Bay Aquarium, to offer packaged, money saving deals. The hotel offers deluxe rooms that sleep four and feature a fireplace, full tub, and garden views. The ocean view two-bedroom suite accommodates up to six guests with one king bed, one full bed, and a queen size sofa sleeper. The suite includes a kitchen area, dining room, fireplace, and balcony.

The location is good (right on the coast but a walk to the village). The rooms are very tired and, in my view, include some suites that are simply sub standard. It is too easy to describe the accommodation as 'vintage'. This residence needs updating. I would rate this as a 3 if the photos matched reality and the price was appropriate. But given the disappointment with reality, it is a rating of 2 at best. See attached pictures and make up your own mind (hotel marketing vs reality).

We stayed here for 2 nights in an ocean view king. The facility is not up to what I think of as a boutique hotel. More like a 1950s mom and pop motel.
Tired and run down. Dirty in a lot of areas. Breakfast okay for pre-prepared fare. I recommend you look for something else.
