Situated along Playa de Flamingos in Nuevo Vallarta, Riu Jalisco is an all-inclusive resort right on the beach. Seven-hundred guest rooms and suites feature satellite television, central air conditioning (important!) and a balcony or terrace. Suites also offer living room areas, dressing rooms and bathrooms with a bathtub and a bidet. Four restaurants at Riu Jalisco serve a variety of different cuisines, including Mexican, Asian and Brazilian. Of course, local favorites are also offered at Don Emiliano. A beach bar and grill allows guests to dine with their toes in the sand. A full American breakfast buffet is also available for picky eaters.
Riu Jalisco has two swimming pools and two Jacuzzis. The pool area is adorned with complimentary sun loungers, parasol and towels. RiuLand is a children’s club that offers supervised activities for kids’ in two group (ages 4 to 7 and 8 to 12). The program takes place in a play room and on a sprawling playground with slides and forts. While the kids are in childcare, parents may enjoy visiting Renova Spa, unwinding with a massage or pampering with beauty treatment. A gym and sauna are also on the property. The Puerto Vallarta area allows families to witness dolphins, whales and turtles. Water sports and horseback riding is available; golf courses and bicycle rentals are offered nearby, too.

Been to a few RIU's and this one by far is our least favorite. Had to wait until close to 5:00pm on day of check in to get into our room. We realized we would have to wait so of course took our shorts and swim suits in our carry on. Room was just OK. NOt very big at all but again, OK with that since we did not plan on spending much time there. Seemed clean enough. Pools-Please read....the pool appeared sparkling clean the day we arrived and it was downhill from there! Advertised as 1 children's pool and 1 adult pool. Not the case at all. There were more children and floaties in the adults pool than in the children's pool! There should not, I repeat not ever be children, toddlers or teens allowed in a pool with a swim up bar. It appeared a lot of parents used the pool as their babysitter while they proceeded to get loaded. Not at all enjoyable for those of us who wanted peace and quiet. Someone or some people defecated in the pool on 2 occasions during our week there and they simply closed the pool, took the poop out and threw in buckets of bleach. Seriously? This is not how you sanitize a pool after someone defecates in it! Many, many people were complaining and very unhappy. Needless to say that was the end of us going in the pool period. I asked why the children were not in the children's pool and was told they could not discriminate?? What? Kidding right?? Screaming, yelling and slamming doors all hours of the night and we were told they had security patrolling the hotel all night long but were unaware of anything happening near to our room. In fact I was told it was my responsibility to call the front desk when I heard people screaming and fighting in the middle of the night. I really don't like complaining about this resort as in general we do like the RIU's, however, whoever is managing this resort needs to be fired and bring someone in who can rescue it and bring it back to the standards that is needed.

I have never wrote a bad review before but this hotel wasn’t great and I would not return.
Cons-the main pool is gross, people dump their drinks in it and cigarettes etc. Wouldn’t set foot in this pool. It should be adults only as there are 2 kiddie pools. We sat by the beach the whole time in front of the restaurant which was quieter. The room had 2 beds pushed together to make a king and were hard. Room smelled like pinesol and mildew. Many people in our party had to change rooms as water or air conditioning didn’t work. Our room had 2 cockroaches in it. The kids in the hotel were so loud and you could hear them through the walls screaming. The spa prices were high and the spa was run down.
Pros-staff was good and very friendly and helpful mostly. Food was good and there was always great options at all hours of the day.
Basically for the amount we paid I would go elsewhere.
