This is an older hotel; probably 60 or 70s vintage. It is pretty well maintained for its age (given that plumbing and electric all worked), but its age does show. Sidewalks, balconies, and stairways could use a good pressure washing and paint. Our room itself was just OK. AC was a little loud. Carpet was stained and furniture was nicked up. Bed was comfortable and sink / bathroom was as clean as it could be cleaned given the condition of the surfaces. It needs a coat of paint and new carpet at the minimum. Add to that replacement and updating of furnishings and this place might reach acceptable status.

One very strong negative is the condition of the public washrooms off the lobby. Filthy is the word that best describes them.

When we arrived at this motel the front lobby was nicely decorated and clean. Unfortunately this was not the case with our room. The room fridge had leftover food in it from a previous guest. The furniture was badly chipped and scarred and should have been replaced or at least sanded and re-stained. The bathroom tub was awful,badly peeling and the faucets corroded so badly they didn't work.The drain was also badly clogged. The tv,microwave were good and the beds were okay too, at least the sheets were clean. The carpet was soiled and either needed replacing or shampooing.Jakes restaurant was a disappointment for dinner (we were the only customers at 7 pm). The waitress was friendly but the tables were sticky and so were the chairs and needed to be wiped down. She said they were famous for a great breakfast so we thought we'd try it before we left. Unfortunately this was also a big disappointment with soggy french toast,micro dried out bacon. The scrambled eggs and sausage was average and there was very little fruit. The staff in the motel is friendly but that's about all we can say. Last but not least there were guys standing around outside in hallways smoking cigarettes much of the night and the hallways and walkways stunk badly of smoke. We couldn't believe Clarion would have approved this property which needs a major upgrade.
