If you can stretch your imagination to envision a Soho-esque boutique hotel in the middle of the vaguely Dutch portion of Michigan, that’s what CityFlats (a mini three-hotel Michigan chain) offers. There’s a level of urban sophistication here that will please families who like clean linens, modern furnishings and being in the heart of a new place. Book a room with two queens if your little kids like to share a bed.

The rooms were very well designed and decorated. The bed was comfortable, and the pillows were not flat as pancakes as hotel pillows so often are, so I was happy with that! Staff was friendly and helpful. My only super minor concern was lighting in the room. Lighting at the desk area was poor so I could not work there. A desk lamp would be awesome. Lighting at the mirror also wasn’t great, making makeup application difficult in the morning. Such a minor issue though. Overall I really did enjoy my stay and would go back for sure!

My husband and I booked City Flats Hotel for three nights in August. We could not have asked for a better location. It is located one block from 8th Street where all the shopping and restaurants are.
They had a great happy hour from 4 to 7. We had a pizza that was great. They had lots of other choices on the menu for happy hour.
Rooms have a very contemporary feel. They were quite large with extremely high ceilings. The room had one of the nicest and largest hotel showers we'd ever seen.
Another great plus was free parking and complimentary charging for electric vehicles.
