Casa Cid de Leon encapsulates all that is to love about Oaxaca. We were lucky enough to secure a timeshare exchange to this wonderful location. This centuries-old building is so much more than an average hotel. The accommodations were unique displaying some of Oaxaca’s colonial architecture with a winding staircase leading up and up to a rooftop with plants, tables for breakfast, and a great city view. The location was supreme being just about block from the zócolo. The suite (we were in the Bella Epoca) was expansive and filled with antique trinkets. The water was hot and the bathroom stocked with toiletries. Housekeeping kept the room sparkling. Wifi was available and reliable. The staff was attentive with someone always at the front desk monitoring entry and exit. The hotel captured all the details (like hats to take out on a sunny day and cross-stitched room names tied on to the turn keys). It was truly a memorable stay that further enhanced our enjoyment of the city.

I have stayed at hundreds, if not a thousand (gulp), hotels. Cid de Leon stands out as one of the most pleasurable of them all. Each room is unique. Each room is special, with varied pieces of ceramic, paintings, wall decor, chandeliers, nightstands, and even cherubs!!!! Very comfortable beds. We stayed eight nights, the last six in the Matrimony Suite. Every day we noticed something new. A very, very, nice breakfast is served on the roof. great vistas; sweet Latinas waiting on you and doing the cooking, Fresh OJ, large sliced fresh fruit, and lots of it; eggs your style (american or Mexican); and good, good, coffee. ...for $5.00. The personnel at the front desk (Loida, Mario: Manuel) and always at your service, always helpful and smiling. To top it all off, it is next to La Cathedral, by FAR, the best restaurant in town...
