Service was friendly and helpful. New management. Discounts for nearby restaurants. I've been coming back to this lovely place annually for 15 years. Interior gardens and fountains gave it a peaceful ambience, now marred by a strobe-flashing light on one statue. They apparently knew my room's built-in heater didn't work but gave it to me anyway. (After I complained, they offered to move me to another room, but the electric space heater they supplied worked fine.) The main view of the ocean was taped off without explanation, so no seated sunset views. At least two water leaks in common areas not fully repaired. Looks like the rooms and office have been repainted and refurnished. No king room luggage stand or other place to keep an open suitcase. Toilet paper was the thinnest.

When we travel, I always try to book a room with a whirlpool tub. Such is the reason for us staying here in Dana Point, and it’s well worth the price. Only drawback is the lack of inroom electronic chargers, which many other Best Western’s have incorporated into their amenities. Usually there are USB ports in the lamps and desktop lamps, not so here.
