To break out the double stroller or not—for parents of more than one young child, that’s often the question. Admittedly, there are times in your travels when a single stroller and a baby carrier will suffice—or perhaps two single strollers instead of a double, when you have two people to push them.

But for better or for worse, sometimes only a double stroller will do. And when it comes to travel ease, the more compact and maneuverable your gear is, the better off you’ll all be. These are the best double strollers for travel.

chicco BravoFor2 Standing Stoller

1. Chicco BravoFor2 Standing/Sitting Double Stroller

Notions of double strollers being bulky and unwieldy go right out the door when you get your hands on this compact and easy-to-fold strolling machine from Chicco. The BravoFor2 has all the same quick-fold features parents love about the Bravo and Mini Bravo lines—you can break it down with just one hand, and the stroller even stands on its own in the folded position. Chicco car seats can be accommodated for infants. And once both of your kids are able to sit on their own, there’s the option of a front and rear-facing seat combo or a rear platform where toddlers will have fun standing for the ride. Front swivels and all-wheel suspension make for a smooth ride. Since traveling with two kids usually means a bigger diaper bag, as well, you’ll like the large storage basket beneath the seats that you can easily get into from both the front and back of the stroller.

UPPAbaby G Link Stroller in Charcole

2. UPPAbaby G-Link

For a side-by-side double stroller that travels exceptionally well, look no further than the portable and light UPPAbaby G-Link, with an all-aluminum frame that makes it easy to tote anywhere. This stroller has so many little extras to ensure your a deux experiences go smoothly for babies of all ages, including independently reclining seats so one child can be napping while the other is playing upright. Instead of six sets of wheels like many side-by-side strollers have, this double makes do with just four—as a result, it moves with you and pushes more like a single stroller. The one-action fold means you can have the G-Link stashed and stowed in a flash. Other features parents love are the multi-paneled canopies with extendable UPF 50+ sunshades, keeping your babies comfortable and safe. We love UPPAbaby’s TravelSafe program, too. When you register for it, any damages incurred during air travel will be fixed (or the stroller will be replaced!) by UPPAbaby.

Blue Baby Jogger Double Stroller

3. Baby Jogger City Mini GT Double Stroller

Here’s another side-by-side double stroller we love for bringing along on a road trip or to the airport. With seats that recline independently to near-flat—all the better to induce airport naps—and the option for a car seat adapter, too, it’s easy to accommodate young kids of all ages with the City Mini GT. While this stroller isn’t the lightest (some airlines may require you to check it before you pass through security), it has sturdy all-terrain tires and and an all-around hearty design that makes it a cinch for pushing over rough surfaces and cobbled streets. Quick-fold technology means you can break it down with one hand. And we love that the stroller stands on its own when folded—all the better for avoiding a wrestling match while you wait for an airline agent to stash the stroller as you board. Bonus: The Baby Jogger City Mini (single or double) meets stroller requirements for Disney World.

JOOVY Groove Ultralight Double Umbrella Stroller in turquoise

4. JOOVY Twin Groove Ultralight Umbrella Stroller

Designed to accommodate newborns through kids up to 50 pounds, this well-priced double umbrella stroller from Joovy is a traveling family’s favorite, thanks to its overall push-ability and lightweight frame that tips the scales at just 26 pounds. The shoulder-carry strap makes it easy to tote along when you have to, say, save space in the Paris metro. And with a near-flat, independent recline to both seats, kids can be more easily cajoled into napping when you’re ready to tip back a vino with your travel partner in Rome. There’s a built-in foot enclosure for keeping infants contained, and adjustable foot rests help the stroller grow with your growing kids, too.

Graco 2Grow Double Stroller

5. Graco Ready2Grow Click Connect LX Double Stroller

With its compact, stadium-seating design, this double stroller will make you do a double-take to ensure it really has room for two. Able to accommodate the weight of up to 90 pounds between your two kids, the versatile design features multi-positioning and a standing platform for older children. The two large sun canopies can be independently adjusted, and there’s a large rear storage pocket in addition to the ample under-seat basket for toting along all those baby essentials.

Joovy Caboose Ultralight Stroller Red

6. JOOVY Caboose Ultralight

With a front-facing seat and room on the back to either sit or stand atop the ride-on platform for toddler or kid number two, this JOOVY ultralight gem gets bonus points for being extra light (just 22 pounds) and super portable. A total kid weight of up to 90 pounds can be accommodated onboard the stroller, but do note that the rear seat is more bench-style, and far more suited for toddlers and older kids than those under age 1. Considered the lightest sit-and-stand stroller on the market, this one’s a favorite when saving space and weight is your prime concern on the road.

Veer Cruiser Wagon Stroller

7. Veer Stroller Wagon

It might look like a wagon, but this cool Stroller Wagon from Veer pushes just like a stroller and might be just what you’re looking for when taking two kids on the road. Rugged, airless tires make it easy to push the Veer like a stroller or pull it wagon-style across rough terrain. Car seats can be accommodated or you can have multiple kids sit aboard, wagon style. The stroller easily folds down to transport with ease and can stand on its end, too, for convenient storage. Perks kids will appreciate include 360-degrees around them from inside the wagon and contoured seat backs that ensure a comfy ride. And talk about a stroller that grows with your kids—the Veer can keep them riding aboard until around age 5.
