The Check-in experience was adequate. After a day of travel, we decided to grab a bite at Stonecutter's Tavern before going to our room. The service and food in the tavern was good. Our room was off-site, a little more than 2-miles from the castle, at White Springs Manor. The two-mile plus drive was NOT the issue.
We arrived at the manor, only one other car was parked in the lot. We entered through a door on the rear (as instructed). The cavernous room was barely lit by daylight coming through the windows. We were surrounded by closed doors, old furniture, and a musty smell. While my husband and I were still standing and taking in the room, two employees, after some manipulation of unlocking the door, came in with food for someone we never saw. They started up the stairs - approximately 30-steps - I did not count - but then stopped and hollered up "Hello!" I assume they found whomever they were looking for because they descended without the food.
WHITE SPRINGS MANOR IS NOT HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE! We are seniors; my husband has had double-knee replacement and now has Parkinson's. We slowly made our way to our room - The Sheldon Room - at the top of the stairs, remained there about 10-minutes. The furnishings and decor did not appear to be reproductions, but ACTUALLY OF THE PERIOD. We CANCELLED our stay of three-nights.Their photos are misleading showing primarily the Belhurst Castle and Vinifera Inn; the exterior and interior of White Springs Manor need a lot of TLC.
