Overview

Located in Dewey Beach, less than 10 minutes south of Rehoboth Beach, the Bay Resort Motel offers no frills, but a great location with bay views and only a few blocks to the beach.

The guestrooms feature a kitchenette with a full stove and mini-fridge, which is convenient for breakfast as the motel does not offer any breakfast. The Bay Resort features an outdoor pool, and is also within walking distance to several restaurants and shops. Paddleboard and kayak rentals are on the property, as well, with a partnership with Delmarva Board Sport Adventures. Rent for an hour or the week. Free Wi-Fi and free parking, which is always at a premium in Dewey Beach, are also available.

The guestrooms feature two double beds or a king bed with a sleeper sofa and views of the bay or the pool from the balcony or patio. All of the guestrooms feature an efficiency kitchenette that has a microwave, mini-fridge, sink, three burner cooktop and small stove. Basic dishware and pots and pans are also available. A bathtub is included in the bathroom. Cribs and rollaway beds are available for a $10 nightly fee, each. Connecting rooms are available.

Outdated but can't beat the view

Decided to choose this location since it seemed very scenic based on other visitor's reviews.

Pros: If you are visiting the area to visit the Dogfish Head brewery, it will make it about a 25-minute drive, but it gives you the option to the charm of the city. It also puts you about 10-12 minutes from the Dogfish Head restaurant and for breakfast 5-7 minutes from the IHOP. Another huge plus is 7-10 minutes from the outlet.

Cons: It is a bit outdated. For the price, it wasn't too hard to overlook because it was on a holiday weekend. But this place could definitely use some TLC

Wonderful weekday stay in Dewey Beach

Wow, what can i say about Bay Resort. I was NOT expecting the hospitality and warmth that i received. It's not like i read anything BAD about the hotel online, and in fact, the reviews were all really great. It's just that Dewey itself is just such a small area, quiet and locally driven i didn't expect much from any hotel really. Boy was i wrong! Bay Resort was so quiet and sweet. I felt so comfortable and safe there and had an amazing view of the bay right from my patio! The room was so clean and looked like military personnel had made the bed! It was just really beautiful. The front desk agents Jill and Tom were so welcoming and the General Manager Janann was around the entire time i was there, walking and talking with every guest she encountered. Location is great right behind "The worlds best crabcake" at Woodys, and YES IT WAS. Just the whole experience that Bay Resort provided me with was so memorable. Cannot wait for my next trip to Dewey!!!!

Family Activities

Beach
While the motel is situated on the bay side of Dewey, the beach and Atlantic Ocean are about a two-block walk across Coastal Highway (a four lane major thoroughfare). However, guests will find safe and convenient crosswalks to reach the beach. Or if you don't want to walk at all, play in the sand off the bay shores (that the motel overlooks). The bay is mostly calm with shallow waters and offers a sandy bottom.

Pool
The small, outdoor pool is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There are tables and chairs and lounge chairs surrounding the pool area. Pool towels are not provided.

Water Sport Rentals
The Bay Resort Motel has partnered with Delmarva Board Sport Adventures, which has a rental spot in the rear of the motel by the bay. Guests can rent paddleboards and kayaks from Delmarva and launch them right into the bay or sign up for a guided tour.

Fishing
Kids will love to go fishing and crabbing off the pier behind the motel.

Family Dining

Complimentary coffee is provided in the lobby throughout the day. Breakfast is not available onsite, however there are numerous restaurants within walking distance of the Bay Resort Motel.

Getting There
Dewey Beach is situated between Rehoboth Beach and Fenwick Island and is about an hour south of Dover, Delaware. The Salisbury-Ocean City Wicomico Regional Airport, located in Maryland, is about an hour from Dewey and offers connecting flights from Philadelphia or Baltimore. Philadelphia International Airport and Baltimore-Washington International Airport are both about two and half hours away.

Getting Around
Families can easily walk to many restaurants, shops and the beach from Bay Resort Motel. The motel is situated about a block off the main thoroughfare of Coastal Highway. There are sidewalks, but strollers are a good idea for wandering toddlers or younger kids. A car is needed to venture further away from the hotel or outside of Dewey Beach.
