This beachfront, all-inclusive resort is large enough to never fill crowded, but small enough that everything is only a short walk from your guestroom.

Most of the guestrooms overlook the large pool area, where kids will find waterslides and splash areas and adults will find lounge chairs in the shade. Just steps away from the pool is the sandy beach and calm sea waters. The resort is situated on Tangolunda Bay, just inside the Pacific Ocean, so the waters are often calm — making it a great place for families to swim. Plus, lifeguards are always on duty at both the pools and the beach.

After a day spent at the beach and pools, families will surely enjoy meals at the wide variety of restaurants, all included in nightly rates. The game room, kids’ club and onsite theater with nightly entertainment are all excellent additions to a family stay at Barcelo Huatulco.

This large hotel features 351 guestrooms with a variety of categories from which to choose. All of the guestrooms feature a mini-bar, which is stocked daily with beer, soda, juice and water. All of the guestrooms can accommodate up to four people, but connecting rooms are available. Cribs are available upon request.

The standard guestrooms feature one king or two queen beds, a flat-screen television, air conditioning, coffeemaker and standup shower in the bathroom. There is a small table for two and the balcony overlooks the garden or the pool and ocean, depending which room level you request.

Premium Level

The Premium Level guestrooms feature one king or two queen beds, a flat-screen television, air conditioning, coffeemaker and standup shower in the bathroom. There is a small table for two and the large balcony overlooks the pool and ocean. Guests can enjoy free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel in the Premium Level rooms, and pool towels are waiting in your room. The mini-bar at this level has premium brands and room service is available 24/7 at no additional charge.

Master Suite Premium Level

The Master Suite features a king bed and a living room area with a sofa, flat-screen television, small table for two and a coffeemaker. Families can connect a room with two queen beds to the Master Suite, as well. There is a standup shower and a Jacuzzi tub in the Master Suite bathroom. The Premium Level guests also receive all of the additional amenities of free Wi-Fi, 24/7 room service, pool towels in the room and an upgraded mini-bar.

Pools

There are three large pool areas at Barcelo Huatulco. The kiddie pool features a slide and large fountain and lots of space to splash. The activity pool features music and daily games and activities and the adult-only pool is more for relaxation and quiet time; there is also a swim up bar at the adult-only pool.

Plenty of lounge chairs surround all of the pool areas and there are numerous places to find shade as well. Complimentary pool towels are provided at the pool desk and no towel card is needed. A lifeguard can also be found at the pool. The pools are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Beach

Just steps away from the pools, families can find the sand and the sea. A long and wide stretch of sand runs along the Barcelo. There are several lounge chairs and palapas for shade on the beach, and a lifeguard is on duty as well. The Tangolunda Bay waters are calm, so children will enjoy swimming in the sea. All non-motorized water sports, such as kayaking and snorkeling, are included in your stay. The water sports are available from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Kids Club

The supervised kids' club is open during high season from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for kids age 5 to 12. Kids will enjoy daily activities including arts and crafts, cooking classes and games with the staff. Kids will also find a playground with swings and a slide at the kids' club, located near the beach.

Game Room

Teens will love the game room with foosball, Ping-Pong, multiple TVs, video games, board games and more. Snacks like popcorn, soda and self-serve ice cream can also be found here. The game room is open from noon to midnight and is suited for children ages 12 and up.

Theater

The onsite, indoor air-conditioned theater features wonderful nightly entertainment. Every night there is a different show at 9:30 p.m., with live music, singing, dancing and more. Once a week there is a children's Disney show at 9 p.m., too.

There are several restaurants to choose from at this all-inclusive resort. Two buffets and a variety of specialty restaurants (open on select days) are all covered in the all-inclusive rate. Highchairs are always available.

Dona Rosa

This buffet restaurant, which rotates with La Tortuga, is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. No reservations are required.

La Tortuga

This buffet restaurant, which rotates with Dona Rosa, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Lobby Bar

The large, open-air lobby bar serves a variety of cocktails and guests can enjoy the sea breeze in many of the relaxing chairs. Snacks like popcorn and cookies can be found here throughout the day, as well.

El Quijote

This Spanish restaurant is open for dinner only, and a dress code of pants for men and closed-toe shoes are required.

El Agave

This Mexican restaurant is open on select nights for dinner only and requires a reservation and dress code.

La Trattoria

This Italian restaurant, located within the La Tortuga restaurant, is open for dinner only from 7 to 10 p.m. on select nights.

Kyoto

This sushi restaurant is small, but delicious. There is a dress code, but it is not formal.

Premium Level Lounge

Premium Level guests get to enjoy a few more amenities during their stay, which include premium level alcohol brands, room service 24/7 and access to the Premium Lounge. Located off the lobby, the Premium Lounge features food and snacks all day long, a premium level bar, and specialty dinner service upon request. The lounge is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
