This four-minute guided gondola ride is a great way to see one of El Paso’s crown jewels, the Franklin Mountains, and get a bird’s eye view of three states and two countries. Ranger Peak, your destination, stands at 5,632 feet above sea level. The ride itself is something kids really seem to enjoy. A ticket covers the round-trip ride up and back.

If you happen to visit when the tramway is not operating – or prefer to explore on your own – head to the Scenic Drive Overlook, and you’ll enjoy some great views, particularly at sunset.

Rates

Tram tours are $8 per person for 13 years and up; $4 per person for children 12 and under.

Hours

Noon to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday; closed Monday through Thursday.

Things to Know

The tramway will close due to high winds or poor weather conditions, so check online for its operational status before you go.

Dining

A small gift shop at the summit sells light refreshments, but you can bring a picnic lunch with you to enjoy in the state park.
