One of the monuments under the National Park Service umbrella, this site was discovered in the mid-1800s as an ancient pueblo town. Self-guided trails take hikers past Pueblos, including the Wupatki Pueblo trail, which departs from the visitor’s center and is less than a half-mile round trip. The park can also be enjoyed via a scenic drive. Open year-round (except Christmas), park hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Junior Ranger programs are available. Admission is $5 per person, age 16 and older, and free for kids 15 and under.
