This enormous palace-like structure is the current home of one of the best Italian art museums, housing numerous Renaissance pieces and works by artists like Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Botticelli. Avoid the long lines by purchasing tickets in advance, and if your children are up for it, elect to do a guided tour to really understand what you’re seeing; the museum has English guidebooks, but they are not very detailed. Be sure not to miss Rembrandt’s self-portraits.
