This 138.6-acre park offers plenty for families to enjoy. There are the usual park amenities, such as the playground, basketball and tennis courts; a large field; and a 2-mile paved pathway for jogging, biking, skating and walking. Plus, there are many open picnic areas, along with 13 picnic shelters. However, the park also is home to Castaway Island Park, which includes two interactive water playgrounds. The first water playground is geared toward infants and toddlers, while the second is for older children. Activities include climbing features, small waterslides and dumping buckets. There’s also a zero-entry swim lagoon complete with waterfall.
Hours
T.Y. Park is open from March through November from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and from November through March from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed Christmas Day. Open seasonally from April through October, Castaway Island Park water playgrounds are open 10 a.m. to 5:20 p.m. daily. The swim lagoon is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours are subject to weather-related closures.
Admission
For weekends and holidays only, there is an admission fee of $1.50 per person for visitors age 6 and older. There is a maximum charge of $8 per car or van (six to nine occupants). To enter Castaway Island Park, the admission is $8.50 per person plus tax; the charge is $5.25 plus tax after 3 p.m. Children age 1 and younger are free.
