The 26-mile drive through Titus Canyon is the combination of everything that makes Death Valley interesting: colorful rocks, rugged mountainsides, sheer cliff drops, rare plants, petroglyphs–you’ll even pass by the Rhyolite ghost town! You can make the one-way canyon trip with a two-wheel-drive vehicle (this is not the case for a lot of Death Valley’s backcountry roads), which may be one of the reasons Titus Canyon is one of the most popular off-road drives in the park. Fill your tank and budget around three hours. Before you go, ask a ranger about road and weather conditions, as the canyon is prone to flash floods.
